My passion is working with clients in transition and I specialize in counseling women 40s and older who are facing situations of peri-menopause/post-menopause, aging parents, adult sibling relationships, emancipating children and career transitions. For women in this stage of life there might be a feeling of invisibility and irrelevance. It can be helpful to work with a therapist who is closer in age. It is challenging to navigate these situations in isolation and because of the complex relational history, there can be a sense of overwhelm with emotional triggers. How would it be if this were a time of mastery and empowerment?

Creating a safe relationship and environment is key in starting to unravel patterns that have developed earlier in life and it can be helpful to work with someone closer in age. As a psychotherapist, I help my clients put thoughts and feelings into words as a means to uncover their own intelligence and facilitate the changes they want to see in their lives.

It's understandable to feel irritated, frustrated, guilty, resentful and sad when pulled in different relational directions. Finding time to examine the storylines and associated assumptions about oneself and others can be an opportunity to shed strategies that no longer serve.
