Grief and loss are universal, but they can make us feel incredibly alone. We cannot "fix" grief and we never "get over" the death of someone we love, but we can find ways to decrease our suffering as we heal around the loss and create a life that feels meaningful again. I would feel honored to walk beside you on this journey.
I received my MS degree in Psychology with a Clinical Emphasis from Eastern Washington University and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington. I have been working as a mental health counselor since 2006 and have worked full-time as a hospice bereavement counselor since 2012.
I use treatment methods based in listening, warmth, empathy, and positive regard. My therapeutic approach is influenced by current models of grief theory and research while also utilizing evidence based therapeutic models such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
I use a wide variety of activities with clients including: journaling, reading assignments, artwork, homework tasks, relaxation, guided-imagery, and training/educational experiences.
