Establishing a trusting, non-judgmental, secure, and genuine environment is essential for an effective therapeutic experience. I strive to offer each of my clients a positive, safe, and trusting place to explore feelings and emotions that impact their daily lives. By integrating various theoretical principles and perspectives I am able to effectively utilize the best fit for my client’s individual situation. I feel my role in session is to help my clients by facilitating the therapeutic process through which they realize the changes they seek. The therapies I frequently use are Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, CBT, and Gestalt.

I help individuals navigate the complexities of emotional struggles such as anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I employ a psychodynamic approach to help create self-awareness and emotional freedom by understanding the patterns and dynamics of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Personal growth and healing centers around finding and rediscovering the tools to overcome obstacles while developing a unique path towards a healthy quality of life. Exploring and reinforcing inner strength, determination, resilience, and insight are some of the ways that I work with adolescents, college students and adults to assist them on their mental health journey. My approach to counseling stems from an integrative lens in which I incorporate research-based modalities from Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practices and Solution-Focused Therapy.

The path to healing is both personal and connected to those around us. I believe in helping people take better care of themselves while fostering healthier relationships. Graduating from Michigan State University and Wayne State University, I have over 25 years experience in mental health and medical settings helping adults, medical professionals, couples, caregivers, and families overcome struggles in their lives.

I am a Licensed Psychologist and the Clinical Director of Sollars and Associates Integrative Counseling and Psychological Services. I have been providing counseling and psychotherapy for over 30 years in the Metro Detroit area and our group practice spans across the state of Michigan. Our group is trained in dealing with a variety of issues including: Attention Deficit Disorder, School Difficulties, Interpersonal Issues such as bullying, adult ADD and related issues, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Mood Disorders, Grief and Loss, Parenting, Educational Concerns, Relationship Concerns, Career and Work Issues, and Sexual Issues.

Taking the first step towards making a change is the most difficult step but most important. What one needs most during this time is a space of safety, empathy and encouragement.
