Are you and your partner(s) at a place where you realize that your communication, sex life, and emotional safety are at a breaking point and you need more help? As a sex and couple therapist, I believe that all problems are relational- one of you is not "the problem". The patterns of relating to one another that have become twisted with hurt and resentment over time are the problem. My style of conducting therapy is validating, structured, goal-oriented, observational and direct, with an element of coaching through in-session interventions and homework to complete outside of our meetings.
I am skilled in working with multiple people in the room. My goal is to get you and your partner(s) to speak to each other differently. I specialize in couples with sexual dysfunction, communication difficulties, trust issues, trauma history, anxiety, and socialized gender-based disagreements. I am LGBTQIA+, sex-worker, kink and polyamory affirming.
I recognize that taking the step to reach out to a therapist is a great leap towards change, and also one of the hardest things to do. I try to make this go as smoothly as possible by responding promptly, answering any questions you may have, and referring you to one of my colleagues ASAP. I look forward to hearing from you.

If you identify as LGBTQ+ and are experiencing loneliness, feeling different, or are struggling in your connections with others, this group is for you! Through group process we will discuss unique issues and topics that arise in your life and communities. Members will receive multiple perspectives, support, encouragement, and feedback from others in an affirming and confidential environment. We will explore relational patterns and practice showing up differently. This weekly group is held virtually on Zoom and led by two relational psychotherapists, Kayla Hartman, MSW & Casey VanderStel, EMDR. An interview with the group leaders is required before joining.

Maybe you’ve recently gone through treatment for an eating disorder, and you’re finding it hard to reintegrate into the same environment that you were struggling in previously. Or you’ve been in recovery for years and need a space to recommit to your goals and get support from people who know what it's like. Either way, this group will provide the peer and counselor support you need! Led by group psychotherapist Kayla Hartman, MSW, this group will be a safe space to support your eating disorder recovery. An initial virtual interview with Kayla is required before joining.
