My ideal client is willing to rethink what therapy looks and feels like - being open to a variety of techniques; collaborating; and engaging body, mind, and emotions, particularly in the outdoors. I conduct experiential outdoor sessions (when weather permits), helping clients in connecting with themselves by grounding in the supportive power of nature. Walking and talking in an outdoor space allows us to engage in an informal environment, while still providing therapeutic benefits.
Sessions with children & adolescents are more client-led, utilizing expressive arts, drama therapy, sand tray, and nature therapy. Adult play therapy is rooted in narrative, existential theory, while engaging a variety of creative and expressive arts techniques. I collaborate with each client to develop a treatment plan that will address their unique needs.
Therapy should be therapeutic - for my clients, I want therapy to provide a space for them to feel seen and heard. While personal growth and development does not always feel good, the therapy process does not have to be painful. I want clients to feel supported and empowered to grow from where they are in this present moment.
