About
Being a human being can be quite challenging! There's a saying about the mind: 'the mind is a good servant, but a cruel taskmaster!' Many of us never learned how to calm our minds, limit our worrying, and self-soothe. Mindfulness training is one of the most researched methods for learning to do this. My work with individuals helps them to become skilled in this way, and to lessen the grip of attitudes and beliefs that limit us in significant ways. I work with individuals in this way, as well as with groups.
Since 1993 when I was trained by Harville Hendrix, PhD I have been working a great deal of the time with couples. Also informed by emotionally focused therapy for couples, and the Gottman Method, I help couples quickly identify small changes that can result in significant improvement in the quality of their communication and relationship.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a well respected method of helping individuals more effectively deal with the problems of daily living. I help individuals understand how and why they are struggling with an anxious or depressed mood, and give them powerful tools for living much more effective & much more comfortably!
