About
The clients I work with are seeking to make positive changes in their lives. I work with people who range in age from six years old through adulthood, who are experiencing difficulty and stress. This stress can be in school, on the job, or in the family. By helping alleviate the sources of anxiety and stress, we can change how we feel, and then consequently, how we respond. Different times of our lives can lend to new changes. Even a positive change can bring on anxiety, or self-doubt. Counseling can increase your support circle to help improve your family and social relationships.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina. I have 26 years of experience, including counseling students and parents in elementary and middle schools and adults in a mental health center. My experience included working with families, adults and children with anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities, and illness.
I use a cognitive-behavioral approach and supportive talk therapy techniques, working with both individuals and families. When working with children, I use age appropriate and expressive therapy techniques, and incorporate family work and a systems perspective. My hope is that my clients make successful changes in their lives as the result of therapy.
