As a therapist, I operate from the belief that no individual is beyond help or unable to make changes that can contribute to a more healthy and happy lifestyle. My therapeutic approach is one that is active-directive. I work closely with my clients to assist them in accomplishing goals THEY want to achieve! I believe it is important to acknowledge and accept that we, as humans, are all at different stages of readiness and willingness to make changes in our lives — and that no one individual is “right” or “wrong.” We are all on this journey together!
I utilize Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. This type of therapy is similar to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but dives deeper and allows us to gain insight and recognize the unhealthy beliefs we may have about ourselves, others, and the world. By modifying these unhelpful thoughts, we can acknowledge that we are largely in control of our own happiness.
I believe in self-empowerment — the idea that it is best to look inside ourselves to find control and understanding when people, places, or things around us become chaotic. We can all connect with universal emotions. Change is difficult and progress is not linear, but we are all capable of creating our own path and journey to get where we want to go!
