Art Therapy is proof that a picture is worth 1,000 words. Using art creates an opportunity to express what is difficult, or seemingly impossible, to say with words. No prior art experience or skill is needed to benefit from Art Therapy- Even stick figures are expressive! Art therapy can help children, adolescents, and adults: Explore emotions, reduce anxiety/depression symptoms, build self-esteem, develop self-awareness, manage behavior/addictions, & cultivate emotional resilience and healing. The goal of Art Therapy is to utilize the creative process to find new ways of self-expression, gain insight, and develop new coping skills.
I am passionate about providing a safe, encouraging, and non-judgmental space for you to be your full self, regardless of age, race, disability, or gender identity. I often combine CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed techniques in sessions. As an art therapist, I believe there is no wrong way to create, and that you are the expert of your own life.
Creativity is just another word for problem-solving. So if are seeking therapy as someone who wants to learn more about yourself, suffering from mental illness, wanting help achieving goals or to have more meaningful relationships, or someone who needs to process major life events, Art Therapy can help you create the life you want to live.
