I am a NY, NJ, and CT licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist. I was born and raised in Ireland and received my BA in Psychology from University College Dublin. After coming to the US, I received both my MSW and Ph.D. from Columbia University School of Social Work. I am trained in CBT and DBT, both evidence-based approaches to the treatment of a range of mental health concerns. These therapeutic approaches provide flexible frameworks through which to view presenting issues and are practical and skill-based which allow for gains to be carried forward long after therapy has finished.
In my clinical practice, I work with individuals with a range of emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, stress, and conflict. My approach to therapy is interactive, conversational, and collaborative. I believe that warmth, respect, and a sense of humor all contribute to a strong therapeutic relationship.
I have worked in the field of mental health for over 25 years, providing direct care through individual therapy and community-based crisis intervention, as well as the supervision and training of professionals in suicide assessment and intervention.
