I am a clinical psychologist who uses an orientation to treatment called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My area of expertise is such that I am equipped to work with clients struggling with a multitude of issues, such as depression, anxiety, anger. These emotional issues might be precipitated by stressors in the client's life, such as loss of a job, marital conflict, financial strain. Sometimes people feel unhappy or anxious, with no identifiable reason. By using an approach to treatment that actively helps to lessen negative feelings I aide people in living a more productive life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy stems from the merging of two types of therapy, Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The basic premise of CBT is that unhelpful thoughts cause negative emotions and unhelpful behaviors are learned. I help clients to identify and modify the unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that are interfering with their emotional well-being.
I have had a varied career. I worked on an Inpatient Acute Care Unit for adults. I served as Chief Psychologist at a Community Health Clinic. I have worked with seniors at nursing care facilities. I am a provider for BCBSIL, Aetna, Medicare, Cigna, United Healthcare and Magellan.
