I have been conducting therapy for thirty-five years and I have learned much about human nature. The most important lesson, 'everyone is an individual and unique'. I, therefore, frame my sessions to 'fit' my patient's individual personalities. For the most part, I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is the only orientation clinically proven to help patients. It allows patients to reflect and partake in the therapy sessions. This orientation allows the patient more control over their own wellbeing. When working with teens I practice Solution Focused sessions. Solution Focused is a CBT geared towards younger patients.
Throughout the years I have had the privilege to learn and understand how I can be most helpful to my patients. I work with children (as a family unit), teens, adults and families. I found that I work best with adults on an individual, couples, relationship and marital basis and children fourteen years and older. I include the family for additional support.
My work as a court mediator has allowed me the inside view of couples and their children being hurt and torn apart when, perhaps, the early intervention of therapy might have saved the marriage and family.
