My name is Felicia Black. I am a Clinical Therapist practicing in Onondaga County to meet the needs of the community. I am excited and grateful to help you on your journey to wellness. My desire is to provide a safe space, healing environment, attentive care to all I come into contact with. I hold credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, and Parent Educator based in attachment, attuning, and emotional regulation.

I have been doing counseling and psychotherapy for over thirty years. I enjoy working with individuals and will include their significant others, including spouse, partners, family members, friends and (yes) pets. As I see it, my job as a therapist is to work with you to create an environment in which you will feel emotionally safe, and one in which you can feel OK talking about all aspects of yourself. After receiving my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. I gained experience in counseling in various settings which helps me meet you where you are at. I have been practicing counseling since 2016, with a specialty in addiction, problem gambling, trauma and women’s issues.

I have worked with individuals who struggle with co-occurring disorders; substance use diagnoses, depression, and anxiety. Along with crisis interventions. When working with other individuals I utilize my active listening skills, displaying compassion and empathy.

An Ideal client is one who is willing to work actively with me to solve their issues. We work together to develop a treatment plan and reach their goals. I especially enjoy working with anxious and phobic clients and see them face, confront and feel the freedom that comes from being phobic-free and more relaxed. I have a passion for working with victims of narcissists (bullies) who learn how to stand up to these people and no longer feel like a victim.

I see therapy as providing an emotionally safe place for clients to reflect on whatever they are experiencing, to feel understood, and to receive help identifying ways to feel more settled internally and more able to manage life problems assertively. I have worked for over 35 years with clients from all kinds of circumstances and with a wide range of relationship and mental health difficulties. Whether they are seeking brief or long-term therapy, alone or with a partner or family members, I welcome clients of all ages.
