Dr. Thomas is a licensed psychologist and graduate of the Gordon Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University, the first graduate program in clinical psychology with an educational model devoted to the practicing clinician/psychotherapist. With pre- and post-doctoral experience and training in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy, he has practiced for over 30 years, working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual psychotherapy, as well as providing neuropsychological evaluations to identify the learning needs of children and young adults.

Whether going through a life change, experiencing hardship, or managing challenging symptoms, therapy can be helpful to people from all walks of life. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients become a better version of themselves. I aim to provide my clients with the tools necessary to improve the quality of their daily life. I hope to provide a warm supportive environment where my clients feel safe to express themselves fully. By doing so, I hope to encourage clients to build self-awareness, engage in self-reflection, and create ongoing positive change.

My name is Marilyn Green, LCSW-R, BC-TMH. I have worked in the social work field for over twenty five years. I received my Masters of Social Work degree from Fordham Graduate School of Social Work in 1993. I have been in private practice for more than twenty years. I was awarded "Social 'Worker in the Trenches" of the year award in 2001 from the Hudson Valley Division of NASW.

One of the most important aspects of treatment is the opportunity to be heard and to hear oneself, clearly, quietly away from the tumult of the life circumstances that can overwhelm and distract. Often circumstances in our lives inhibit our ability to do this. My focus will be to help you understand why you are feeling the way you do and how to move forward to attain the life you want. This happens when you are able to revisit and understand your past, clearly see your present and create goals for the life you want.

You may feel lonely, sad or depressed, and want to feel better, more energized, more connected to people. Or you may have difficulty sleeping, feel anxious, fearful about facing responsibilities at work, and wish to be more relaxed and confident. I have 40+ years of clinical practice in a variety of mental health and substance abuse treatment settings. I believe in an approach that enhances a person's growth in self awareness. I have found that a person's ability to change is essential to their well-being and quality of life. My experience has led me to believe that therapy is a collaborative relationship. Each individual is unique. My approach focuses on the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual qualities of the person's life. We will utilize a variety of clinical approaches that are effective.

I specialize in working with couples and persons with issues related to separation, divorce, and custody conflict situations. I have 35 years experience as a mental health professional, including 30 years with Orange County Department of Mental Health.
