I have long-term and significant experience working with various ethnic demographics, cultures, religions, including LGBTQIA and Polyamorous clientele. Over the past 42 years, I have devoted my practice to the treatment of people who want to feel happier with themselves, their relationships with their children, spouses, or family of origin. Many times people suffer from low self esteem, anxiety and depression. Parents come in with issues around their adolescent's behavior. Adults wish to improve how they communicate to their spouses, or would like to deal more effectively with problems at work and with bosses, or other authority figures. Many need help with everyday functioning, and some are struggling with confidence issues and initiative to set positive goals for the future.

I strongly feel that healing can take place only in the context of a relationship in which someone experiences safety, compassion and understanding. It is through this process that people can awaken in themselves the possibilities for growth and transformation, often hidden by the negative effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, anger and loss. In my treatment approach, I communicate to my patients that they are not alone in their suffering, that they have the strength to tolerate the uncertainties of life, and they do have choices even if they feel stuck and alone.

I specialize in both clinical psychology and neuropsychology with extensive experience treating adolescents and adults with psychiatric disabilities, anxiety, depression, couples and marital conflict, and geriatric issues. I also provide neuropsychological assessment of older children, adolescents and adults dealing with a host of issues including ADD, specific learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and dementia. I have an extensive background in vocational rehabilitation and can provide related assistance via evaluation and recommendations, related counseling and linkage to relevant services.

Families evolve and change over time. As individuals age and grow, their roles within the family also change. The family can help - or hinder - individual and personal growth. Family work can help to make the family a positive source of support. Family work will help you to step back and observe emotional patterns and processes. There definitely can be family change with only one person in the room working with a therapist. In physics there is an adage: for every action there is a reaction.

My approach is humanistic and existential. I focus on the individual, not on categorizations or labels. I tailor each treatment plan to meet the individual and unique needs of every single client. I help clients to become more self-aware and to understand what he or she might be needing/wanting. My intention is to help clients concentrate on the here and now while offering empathy, understanding, and compassion. By creating a supportive environment, it is my belief that individuals will feel safe and welcomed. I believe in creating a space that allows for open communication without the fear of judgement.
