I draw from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MB-CT), gestalt, solution-focused, reality therapy, and client-centered approaches.
Have you fallen off track, not quite feeling yourself? Do you feel burnt out...crispy even? The tools that you’ve turned to in the past to get through it aren’t working, but certainly not for a lack of trying? Sometimes life circumstances, a stressful job, a new environment, or even just a big shift in our lives leaves us feeling stuck. I can work with you so that we can better understand the WHY but also work with you to figure out the HOW we get you back on track. Let's get started.

I use various theoretical approaches, including Gestalt, CBT, experiential therapy, motivational interviewing and others.
I work with teenagers and adults with anxiety, depression, school avoidance, self-harm behaviors and OCD. If you like the idea of speaking freely about your thoughts and feelings without being judged, if you like feeling completely accepted for who you are, without having to change anything about yourself, then you’ve come to the right place. Therapy is an opportunity to meet with someone who will accept and support you unconditionally. It’s a space where you can actually learn to stop judging yourself and to let go of thought patterns and beliefs that have been holding you back from experiencing inner peace.

I am a curious and compassionate psychotherapist, calm and gently direct. I support individuals, couples, and families in more fully connecting with self and others. My style draws primarily from Gestalt: an experiential, relational, here-and-now-oriented, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approach. This might look like mindfulness, somatic/body process, role-play, enactment, dreams, parts work, and other creative experiments. I also fluidly integrate Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Psychedelic/Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, and other frameworks, depending on client needs.

Some of the methods I use frequently are mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy, self-compassion/ compassion, gestalt therapy and other body centered approaches.
We can't always control what life brings our way, but we can choose how we respond to it. I enjoy helping people reconnect with their natural wisdom in the midst of life's challenges. My goal is to help my clients gain awareness of what is already working in their lives and what patterns and habits have become outdated or self-defeating. A situation, problem or symptom that appears unworkable or overwhelming can offer the key to its own healing when held with gentle, inquisitive attention.

I am trained primarily as a gestalt and experiential clinician, but I use a variety of modalities based on the needs of my clients including parts work and mindfulness.
No matter your reason for beginning your search for a therapist, you have started your journey toward a happier and more fulfilling life. Therapy is meant to free you from the external and internal pressures that keep you locked into painful debilitating patterns. Working with clients to identify and relieve those pressures so that change can happen is something I love and have been doing for many years. In my career, I have worked with individuals and families not only in my private practice, but also at an addiction treatment center where I served as a therapist, family therapy supervisor and, ultimately, clinical director.

You are a unique magnificent being of Love, Peace, Joy and Light. You are whole and total...not separate from anyone or anything. It in only believing in thoughts, judgments, especially negative ones, that creates suffering, I would love to support you in: 1) learning how not to believe negative thoughts, rather observe and see through them and challenge them:2) when you do identify with them resulting in fear, pain, anger, or sadness how to directly experience them in your heart or body without story so they dissolve. 3) discover you are what you are looking for and have all the answers within and sit in the splendor of this.

Finding a place we can trust to tell our stories is essential to finding a path to healing, recovery, and transformation. Therefore, it is essential to find someone that can help you reach your potential to transform your life. We all are born with an innate capacity to develop happy and healthy lives. However, sometimes life experiences such as hurts and traumas can interfere with our development and we may become unhappy or unsatisfied with our lives and adopt self-defeating thinking and behavioral patterns.

You long for true belonging, confidence and to live your most authentic expression by releasing old patterns that no longer serve you. You are not alone. I believe that we all have inherent within us expansive wisdom, and capacity to heal. We can't always access our truest Self because of past trauma, societal pressures and habitual patterns that keep us disengaged from our true nature.

Although most people will experience anxiety, depression, trauma, self esteem and relationship issues at some point in their life, some issues affect women differently and thus they need a different approach. Women deal with many unique issues like carrying the emotional burden in relationships, having different standards of physical beauty, being discriminated against at work, struggling with fertility issues, and experiencing interesectional racism. Women are often told to "deal with it" or that they are being too emotional, but I am here to tell you that your feelings are completely valid!

Gestalt Therapists

What is gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
