Utilizing somatic experiencing, gestalt and psychodynamic modalities, including techniques from the positive behavioral supports model and play therapy, I work with you and your child to explore the origination of emotional or behavioral difficulties and together we will begin to develop deeper understanding and better communication, promoting healing and growth.
I specialize in working with children with emotional or behavioral challenges. That means children of all ages, both those of chronological age, and the children that still exist within all of us. I use a whole person, whole family approach, which includes sessions with the child, as well as coaching and discussion sessions with the parents or occasionally the entire family. For children's behavior to change, the behavior of the caretakers must change as well.

As a Gestalt therapist I practice a humanistic and process oriented therapy.
I specialize in helping individuals and couples feel more grounded and successful in their relationships and lives. I believe relationship issues as well as common symptoms like depression and anxiety often stem from habitual patterns of relating that may have historical importance, but may no longer be useful to us. As new issues arise in our lives these habitual patterns and our own vulnerabilities may impact our ability to feel competent and fulfilled.

I also embrace the language of parts work as utilized in IFS (Internal Family Systems) and Gestalt Therapy.
Do you find yourself or your relationship stuck in the same never ending cycles? Despite your best efforts to change things, you keep getting tripped up in the same spots. You've run out of ideas, you're tired of throwing around blame, and you seem to have lost the plot. Strategies that may have served you well in the past now seem to be getting in the way. You're craving some creativity, curiosity, a fresh perspective to honor what's gotten you this far while crafting a new path forward. I want to move through this journey with you.

In therapy, I use several modalities including relational gestalt, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and somatic awareness techniques.
I believe that each of our lives is an ecosystem, comprised of the interconnecting forces that influence our well-being. This includes our relationships with other people, with cultural and economic forces and even our own bodies. When we are out of balance or suffer trauma, we are often left feeling anxious, depressed or lost. Could you use an ally in making the "ecosystem" of your life more healthy and vibrant? I provide therapy for adults, children, couples, intimate partners and groups.

My treatment approach is integrative, with an emphasis on Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Person-Centered.
Hi there and welcome! By visiting here today, you're likely in the midst of searching for the right "fit" to join you in the process toward healing. This is no easy task, and I salute you for taking the initial, sometimes uncomfortable steps toward growth. While I encourage you to take your time in that decision, I would be honored to partner alongside you. Presently, I'm an associate clinician at a private practice in LA. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel listened to and valued for who they are. The unpredictable, complex, and ever-changing nature of our lives can often feel overwhelming to sift through alone.

I am trained in many modality including Jungian, person-centered, attachment theory, Adlerian, Gestalt, narrative, solution focused therapy, etc.
I truly enjoy working with clients who are seeking understanding of themselves and wanting to create some change in their lives. I also understand that true intimacy is created from the client-patient relationship, therefore it is tantamount to find the right therapist that you (the patient) feels safe/comfortable enough to say anything that is needed in order to illicit insight/change. I ask that all my clients outline specific therapeutic goals so that together we be clear as to our purpose and stay the course of treatment. I am client-focused and open to feedback since treatment is made for the client.

I use a relational, trauma-informed approach that implements Gestalt theory.
It is not uncommon to struggle with the relationships in our lives. Balancing the stressors of a personal life while being in a relationship or family system can be difficult. For my couples and families, it is my hope to offer a space where you can process the dynamics at play. I invite you to take a stance of curiosity, self-reflection, and complexity as we examine the significant factors of your lives. I know the frustration of having much love for our important people but struggling to get along or “coexist.”

Gestalt Therapists

What is gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
