The idea of therapy can be overwhelming for anyone that hasn't sought it before or for someone who desires to restart therapy. My job as a licensed clinical social worker is not only to support you with whatever issue is taking place, but also to make you feel comfortable and safe to communicate what is usually very personal.
My approach to therapy is to establish what stage you are at in life, what you hope to resolve or examine in therapy, and then set goals and therapy method based on what your expectations are of the therapeutic process. My areas of expertise include depression, bipolar, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, childhood mental health issues.
I have experience in individual, family, and group therapy. I mainly use a cognitive behavioral approach and integrate family system and solution focused therapy when appropriate. I have worked with all age groups, especially with older elementary school children, adolescents and young adults.
