Having conducted more than 2,000 one-on-one psychoeducational evaluations over the last two decades, I understand the importance of psychological assessments as a tool to help maximize learning potential and be well-adjusted socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. My assessments have focused on areas such as ADHD , learning disabilities, social/emotional/behavioral difficulties, giftedness, and more in students from Pre-K through Grade 12, and I can also assess these problems in college students and adults. (I co-authored several books on special education-related topics -- see https://www.alanbrue.com/books)

Maybe you're also struggling with identity, anxiety, ADHD , using your voice confidently, setting healthy boundaries, having and keeping healthy relationships, or you want to learn more about the ways you react to certain things.
One of the hardest parts of therapy is making that first call. You’re realizing that something needs to change in your life or maybe you’ve been thinking about therapy for a while and now you’re having to find that right fit on your own. It can feel difficult to make those moves, especially when you’re feeling down or lost. You deserve to feel heard, held, and empowered. Often, we find ourselves in patterns that we desperately want out of. I work with individuals who struggle to cope emotionally.

I am a licensed professional counselor, specializing in therapies (Neurofeedback, Play Therapy, Yoga) which have been demonstrated by neuroscience to be effective tools in addressing symptoms and causes of ADD / ADHD , anxiety, depression, trauma, TBI, tinnitus, chronic pain and some mood disorders. I believe that our bodies and minds are inextricably connected and have an enormous capacity not only to heal anything that ails us, but to take us beyond healing- to a state in which we are able to thrive. My passion is using Neurofeedback to restore, rebalance, and retrain brainwaves in the direction of health and happiness, while supporting and empowering my clients as they reclaim the thriving lives that they were meant to live.

I work with a wide variety of common and uncommon issues... non-drug approaches for ADHD ; testing and treating children and teens, with therapeutic techniques and helping parents with children's problem behaviors. I've spent years assessing and treating ADHD and have a deep understanding of a variety of approaches to treat it, including medication, nutritional/herbal, and neurofeedback. I help adults get through depression, anxiety, relationship and work problems, and to move from getting out of a problem to enhancing and finding meaning and engagement in life. Your life should, ultimately, be the antidepressant!

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for a Georgia ADHD therapist, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counseling in Georgia.
