At some point in our lives, we’ve had to deal with the pain and difficulty of losing our voice. Not our physical voice, but losing the capability to speak up for ourselves. Have you ever experienced losing the ability to speak up for yourself or your needs due to the fear of possible rejection? Or the fear that nothing will change? Have you ever lost yourself in the process of attempting to speak up for yourself? Do you want to find your voice again? Admitting some of these things is not easy. However, the honesty and courage it took to seek guidance tells me you’re willing to take responsibility to seek emotional and mental change.

Processing our experiences in the world while trying to balance work, relationships, family, self-care, and everyday responsibilities can be challenging and overwhelming. It’s even more complicated when one or more of our identities shape these experiences. This is why I strive to provide culturally informed, evidence-based care to individuals who often come from marginalized communities, including Black men and women, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, veterans, and many others, while addressing a variety of concerns.

What I know about therapy? Therapy can be hard because it should move you out of your comfort zone, but if you are willing to commit to the process, the reward will outweigh the temporary discomfort. As your counselor, I will be there with you as we work through the tough parts. Kudos to you for starting the process of finding the right fit for your counseling needs.
