My goal with each client is to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere that is conducive to change and growth. This can only occur when clients are treated as individuals who know they will receive consistent, compassionate and transparent care. This starts with developing and fostering therapeutic relationships that encourage each individual to realize (or rediscover) a path that will help them develop a greater sense of personal fulfillment. I am comfortable and confident treating clients who are experiencing difficulty adjusting to life events or transitions, as well as those who are continuing to seek understanding, perspective and guidance with long standing challenges and concerns.
I have worked in a variety of public and private settings with clients across the lifespan, including children and adolescents to those facing the end of life. Some of this time has been spent treating clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities, terminal or life altering illness, and individuals who have experienced trauma and sudden loss.
I believe in taking an active and holistic approach to the therapy process while relying on valid and evidence based modalities, including: motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), integrative behavioral therapy, and mindfulness based stress reduction. I have experience training families and support staff in crisis intervention, suicide prevention and behavioral support techniques.
