I believe that when you first begin therapy, you hope to make changes in yourself that will improve your life. Possible changes might include ending the feeling that you are basically bad, or always at fault, or never good enough, or unlovable. You are aware that such feelings have caused you to lose valued relationships, caused you failure in school or at work, and possibly caused you to behave in ways you regret. If you are usually depressed, anxious, lonely or feeling guilty, you hope that therapy will bring relief, that you can finally begin enjoying your life.
I have 30 years experience helping adults develop a deep and fresh understanding of how past experiences can explain current functioning. My theoretical approach is adaptable, be it helping to cope with recent trauma or grief, or reducing the severity of chronic conditions such as low self esteem, anxiety and depression
As a therapist, I use an evidenced-based theory that integrates cognitive, psychodynamic and relational concepts as the framework within which the work of therapy can progress. Therapy comes to be a time safe enough for troubling memories, of insights, self-discovery, and the possibility of a more fulfilling life.
