Young people today are faced with many challenges that place great amounts of stress on their emotional health. It is often helpful to have someone who can help them successfully move through these emotional challenges. I provide a community and office-based counseling service dedicated to helping adolescents and young adults build strengths that allow them to feel emotionally healthy again. When appropriate, I engage the supports of the family, the school, and the community in developing different approaches to affect behavioral difficulties that interfere with daily life activities and personal goals.
I have spent the past 12 years devoting my attention to supporting adolescents living in both urban and suburban communities. A majority of the young people that I see struggle with emotional and behavioral challenges and need support finding different coping skills and ways to express themselves.
I have a very grounded, easy-going approach that tends to work well for young people who are initially uncomfortable with the idea of meeting with a therapist. We work together to develop a plan that allows the young person to safely and appropriately have more control over his/her life.
