Children have to deal with many stressors in today's world. This is especially true of children in military families. Frequent moves, leaving old friends, making new friends, parent's deployments, adjusting to new places and schools, peer pressure and finding and maintaining emotional resilience are challenges many children must deal with. With military children, these events may occur over and over. Family dynamics change as a parent deploys then returns home to reintegrate back into the family. I can help children navigate these challenges and thrive.
I can help children who are struggling with self-esteem, anxiety, sadness, behavioral challenges, adjustments to new places, changes in the family, recovery from stressful events, loss, school success and other issues.
Since 2014 I've worked with military-connected children in school settings in the US, Germany and Japan. Prior to that, I've worked in child & family public mental health. I am kind, empathic and effective with my presence. I offer counseling, art, play therapy and family therapy. My office hours are late afternoon, evening and some Saturdays.
