Hello. I am Gene Gibbs, a licensed professional counselor. I enjoy helping people deal with issues of anger, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and spirituality. I help people process their thoughts and emotions so they can make decisions that can get them to the emotional and mental place they seek. I work with individuals and with couples. I am a gay ally, and I encourage everyone to be willing to speak their truth. I ask my clients to identify their desired outcomes. We then craft a plan with objectives and interventions that will help them achieve their desired outcome.
I talk with people, and I listen to them. I use various modalities, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Meditation and Breathing techniques.
I tend to be direct in my approach. I use questions and I make suggestions when needed. I am responsive, giving feedback to my clients as they share with me. I seek to be supportive, sensitive, and sensible. I ask questions of origin, origin of their issue, and what they expect to achieve from subsequent sessions.
