I am an experienced clinical social worker with a specialty working with adults and families. I provide a safe place to discuss a number of problem areas including grief, trauma, relationship issues, stress, health issues, anxiety, and depression. I work with caregivers, both spouses and parents. I listen very well, offer direct feedback, and provide compassion and hope. I seek solutions and encourage the expression of thoughts and feelings.

Alyssa grew up in a military household and had experienced how mental health struggles within the community and home life can affect the individual and collective from a young age. Alyssa has worked with military and government personnel and grew an interest in mental health as she experienced first hand what trauma and separation can do to the home and community. Alyssa began working in the mental health field shortly after receiving her bachelors in Psychology working as an intensive in-home clinician, mental health skill building and provided therapeutic day treatment to local Spotsylvania High schools.

Do you feel stuck and uncertain about the future, desiring to become the best version of yourself? I specialize in utilizing a strengths-based approach to treatment providing freedom from negative self-talk and past trauma. Anxiety, depression, life transition, and day to day stress can be hard to manage. Feelings of isolation and loneliness can become cumbersome and create a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. I utilize integrative strategies and a holistic model to develop self-acceptance and freedom from painful thoughts and feelings.

I believe in a strength-based approach that is holistic, integrative and client-centered. I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate atmosphere in which clients can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, images and beliefs that may be keeping them stuck.

Miosha Lamar is a Resident In Counseling with a Master of Art degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Miosha specializes in working with teens, adults, and families. She has experience working in several settings including therapeutic day treatment, mental health skill building and intensive in-home.

Wendy Sittner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Virginia. Wendy prioritizes equity and empowers clients to maximize their strengths and enhance their natural support systems. She offers therapy in English and Spanish, and specializes in trauma-informed treatment of anxiety, depression, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

At Bright Horizons, we know all people face obstacles they don’t know how to overcome on their own which are stopping them from living their best life. When people don’t have the tools to overcome the obstacles they face, their lives often become hopeless and they give up. Joe is 1992 Graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master's in Social Work and has been licensed in Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 1996. Joe has over two decades of experience as a therapist providing Individual, Couple, Family and Group Therapy.

Daniel Owen is a Resident In Counseling. Passionate about helping others, Daniel hopes to help clients navigate the complexities of life. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2015, Daniel moved to California, serving with AmeriCorps and working for various nonprofit organizations. Out west, he soaked in lessons about the powers of healing within community and nature.
