I am glad you are here and I respect your courage to ask for help. My passion is families and couples. I love to fill up my office with every family member from babies to grandparents. In the sessions, I am given the privilege of learning about your strengths, your struggles, and watching your interactions with each other. Even at the hardest time, the family’s strengths and the couple's strengths can still prevail. Family Therapy is about the connection between each family member. The goal of family therapy is to empower the entire family and teach them the skills to handle past stressors and prepare them for future events.

I currently have openings for new clients who are available early morning to early afternoon. I specialize in attachment based relationship challenges and complex trauma. In addition to those specialities, I support clients who are challenged with depression, anxiety, general stress, and the emotional aspects of weight loss and challenges associated with weight loss. I encourage those I work with to think about all areas of wellness including: social, emotional, mental, & physical well-being. I believe it is necessary first to heal from harm done in the past and have an open mind for the future.

I approach therapy from an attachment-based and person-centered perspective.
People are lonelier now than any time in history. Relationships can be hard, and if you've had some painful experiences in the past, it may leave you feeling either desperate for connection or terrified of it . . . or maybe both. If you're feeling stuck there, I believe the science of attachment can offer a roadmap for healing. Put that roadmap together with the experience of someone in your corner who listens deeply to help you untangle the stuck places . . . and hope begins to emerge. My passion and goal is to offer that kind of listening and reflection to help you find a new way forward.

Currently accepting new clients! I believe that a trusting relationship with you is of the utmost importance. During our time together I will work to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is troubling you. My approach is informed by attachment-based therapy which emphasizes (1) trusting the client as an expert of their own reality, (2) exploring the patterns through which we come to understand ourselves, others, and the world, and (3) seeking deep and meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship.

I work from an attachment-based perspective.
I enjoy working with folks who find parenting to be more difficult than they anticipated for a variety of reasons. Often I do this by working with separate sessions with you & your child and combined sessions with you and your child. If you're looking for a place to strengthen your relationship with your young child and/or understand their behaviors in new and different ways, I would love to support you. I also enjoy exploring transitions, grief & loss and how that impacts how we show up in relationships, whether that be with our own children, friends, our families, or at work.

I employ various trauma treatment approaches (EMDR, Attachment-based, IFS, Trauma Informed Yoga), tailored to your needs.
I help individuals facing challenges in managing painful emotions, trauma, depression, anxiety, and the complexities of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. Navigating emotional highs and lows can be distressing, especially if influenced by trauma. Managing emotions like anxiety, sadness, shame, and anger may impact relationships, fostering feelings of inadequacy and isolation.

I am incredibly passionate about my work as a therapist and find it to be a true honor to walk alongside my clients on their journey to find healing, peace, and restoration. My main priority is to offer a safe, judgement-free zone where a client can develop rapport quickly and build a genuine connection with someone who truly cares about their well-being and growth. I am a firm believer that empathy, compassion, and an ability to understand the pain, hurt, and challenges my clients are currently facing is absolutely necessary as these are the things that help build the foundation for trust to develop in a therapeutic relationship.

I believe that maintaining and focusing on our mental health should be as normal as attending to our physical health, and just as important. Therapy is a way to work through the challenges of life, understand ourselves more fully, and work towards a place of wellness unique to each person. Therefore, I use multiple evidence-based modalities, coupled with a therapeutic style that is impartial, non-judgmental, and encouraging, specific to each person’s needs. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults of all stages of life. I am passionate about working with women's issues & also enjoy working through spiritual/faith issues.

My past experience in family based therapy has helped me adapt to the needs of my clients and the wide range of challenges they have faced. In my time in family based I worked with people diagnosed with autism, depression, anxiety, intellectual disability, personality disorders, mood disorders, and many others. I believe in meeting each client where they are at and approaching them in a more person-to-person fashion than therapist-to-client. Each person's story is unique and they are the experts on their own lives which allows me to approach their challenges with curiosity and a desire to learn about them and support where needed.

You probably already know at least some of what you wish were different in your life. Often the things we wish were different we have wanted to change for months, years, or even decades. Counseling often has a balanced focus on helping you learn how to cope with present day symptoms while at times looking back to become free from old patterns of responding. Those old patterns that at one time may have been necessary in order to survive, now may be the very thing limiting your ability to thrive and realize your potential. Everyone think's you're ok, but when you look in the mirror you see a person that's one feather from it all falling apart. You despise who you've become, or maybe you’re lying next to a person you hardly know anymore. You find your family twirling into chaos as your children go down a path that leads only to destruction. You can make things better.

Maybe you’ve noticed that making a change in your life is a difficult. Many people struggle to find their footing in the world at one point or another – this can be a large source of anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and stress. I want you to feel at ease to be your most authentic self, and to feel genuinely safe and comfortable as we explore your concerns together. Above all else, I prioritize warmth, comfort, and compassion at the core of the work we do. I promise to tell you honestly and compassionately what you need to hear, even when it might be difficult to face right now.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
