As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, I work with clients with a variety of concerns. Clients who work with me desire to grow and learn individually and interpersonally. I work with concerns from individual to professional to relational issues, including mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, and trauma. In addition, my background in special education allows me to address further parent-child and child-education issues, including those with special needs. I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).

As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, I believe clients hold answers within yet often feel they have lost touch with themselves. I strive to provide a safe and validating space for clients allowing them to discover intuitive answers to incorporate into a purposeful and fulfilling life. Gestalt therapy is one of my approaches which emphasizes existing wholly in the here and now. Throughout this process you can access and integrate fragmented traits generating deeper connection with yourself and others.

Sometimes it feels like life is just too hard, or you aren't getting the most from it. Maybe you've been trying to change, but don't know how. That's where I come in! I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to tell your story, learn about yourself, and build upon strengths you already possess. Dealing with stress and sadness can get easier. I treat individuals and couples ages 16 and up using many treatment modalities. Overall, I use a person-centered or holistic style to develop a plan which best suits each of my clients.

Leah Blankenship (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor, who works with children, adolescents, adults, and groups. Her specialty interests include: women’s, men’s, and gender issues; career development; addictions; and trauma. She integrates art therapy, positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), gestalt, and multicultural counseling into practice. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

Individual counseling provides an opportunity for you to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings in a safe and non-judgmental environment. With children and some adolescents, differing modalities of therapy, including art and music, provide an additional outlet for those who cannot always verbalize thoughts and feelings. My approach to counseling is one of offering space to client for their own empowerment and assisting my clients in becoming active participants in their thoughts, growth, and lives. I strive to embody trust, transparency, and authenticity in all realms of my life and work. I believe a relationship with a counselor is a caring space where one can be themselves without worries of judgment. From my perspective, counseling is a safe relationship in which one can explore their concerns, learn about themselves and the world around them, and try new things to find what works to harness positive change and improve well-being.
