Paul Gibson is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 20 years of practice as a therapist in the greater Phoenix area. He has worked with a wide variety of clients of all ages and backgrounds. Paul embraces the values of authenticity, compassion, and humor as he works to connect with his clients where they are and help them find the place where they would like to be. As an LMFT, he brings experience working with families in high stress situations, couples in conflict and individuals with many different challenges. Among other techniques, Paul has utilized EMDR for many years.

I take clients from all different backgrounds and presenting problems. Most of my clients have complex problems that start as internal struggles from depression, poor mood regulation, anxiety, racing thoughts, over-active anger, poor self-esteem, and judgment of self and others. These issues turn into interpersonal and relational problems that create felt chaos and cyclically feed those internal struggles. Clients often come in focusing on the outside chaos and miss the internal factors.

I am currently working with adults and teenagers individually, as couples, in families, and in groups. My emphasis is in treating the whole person and in developing a plan based on proven treatment strategies. I have training in numerous treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, family systems therapy, behavioral therapy, gestalt, therapy, psycho-educational approaches, and group therapy. I have extensive experience in treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief & loss, relationship issues, and employment concerns.

For me, providing therapy means that I listen, guide, advocate, and teach skills, without judgment, to help you become stronger and more successful in your life. Once we complete the intake, I schedule a therapy session with you. From there we start our therapeutic process. I work primarily with adults in individual, couples and family therapy. I am also a Certified Sex Therapist and work with individuals and couples struggling with sexual dysfunction. Clients have found my systemic training and orientation to be particularly effective for couples and family therapy or when working on relationship and family of origin issues in individual therapy.
