Our practice specializes in working with People of Color, Queer (lesbian/gay/bi/pan), and Trans clients.
Life comes in waves. We all have our stressful moments and difficult situations but, at times, our ability to ride the waves falters. Maybe you are noticing that you haven’t been feeling your best recently or even for a long time now. You may be noticing your relationships with others beginning to become strained. Or you may have lost someone important in your life and found yourself struggling to cope. Sometimes it might feel as though you’re alone with your struggles or that people do not truly see you.

I have two areas of passion: I have years of clinical and personal experience working with members of the LGBTQ community and, as a classically trained musician, I also have insight and skills for helping creative folks of all stripes navigate the "slings and arrows" of their chosen medium.
Choosing a psychotherapist can be a challenging process and we often find ourselves doing it when we are already stressed. I strive to create a tranquil, accepting atmosphere in my work, while my patients also say they enjoy the laughter that we can sometimes find in the midst of our deep and rich explorations. My approach focuses on identifying patients' existing strengths and increasing their capacities to cope with stress so as to lead more satisfying lives. I take a "best-tool-for-the-job," integrative approach, drawing from a range of orientations, all supported by good science.

I consider myself an ally to the LGBTQ community as well as those struggling with their identity in their religious communities.
Often we are faced with decisions that will have a big impact on the course of our life. Even if we already know the better option, it can feel totally overwhelming thinking about all it takes to make the change. Whether it's an addiction, loss of sense of self, or religion, everything else can slip to the background making it hard just to get through the day. When we work collaboratively in therapy, you will experience new things about yourself and what your priorities really are while letting go of what we are told we should be or do.

You also deserve to be treated with dignity and respect for your identity (race/ethnicity, culture, disability status, LGBTQIA+, poly/CNM, kink, substance use).
Knowing that you are safe and supported is one of the best predictors of successful therapy. Choose a therapist who feels authentic and like someone you can trust. Clients who fit best with me want a supportive therapist with a sense of humor who recognizes and affirms who they are, builds on clients' strengths, and helps clients find their own path forward. In addition to trauma work and long-term therapy, I also offer short term counseling to reground and move forward quickly.

I've worked across various settings; trauma focused inpatient psychiatry for children/adolescents, LGBTQ health care, direct services for children on the Autism spectrum, community based refugee and immigrant support, adults with co-occurring disorders, and folks with interlaced mental health needs that would benefit from a layered treatment plan.
**Wait list**Emails are preferred. I'm quicker to respond** I opened this practice to understand other's deep struggle, to support strengthening the experiences and ability to handle life's challenges. There will be opportunities to explore patterns in your thoughts and behaviors, your relationships, and also how you cope and why. We will dig into the roots. My goal is to address and cultivate needed skills, within a created safe, nonjudgmental space, that's fashioned together. I will focus on providing a compassionate, identity-affirming, trauma-centered space to work through your story together.

Our practice specializes in working with People of Color, Queer and Trans clients.
Sometimes, core parts of who we are fall outside of what is considered normal or acceptable. It can feel impossible to understand yourself. You might feel invisible or wonder if you’re really the problem. You know that hiding these parts of yourself doesn’t feel right and isn’t sustainable. At the same time, you question whether it’s worth all the pain that might come from fully exploring and expressing yourself without hiding your identity, isolating from others, or masking. You may already have a strong sense of your identity and know what would help but feel that it's not accessible or possible.

I am LGBTQ+ and trans/gender non-binary affirming.
Seeking to improve our relationship with ourselves and others can feel uncertain and overwhelming. As a therapist, I strive to remove the barriers that many come across by providing an open, trusting, and nonjudgmental space where self-acceptance and healing can be fostered for individuals and for partnerships. Difficulties such as life transitions, relationship challenges, trauma, and unexpected events can leave us feeling disconnected and isolated. Feelings of depression, anxiety, and low self-worth can be processed and untangled with the collaborative experience of therapy.

I work as a team with my clients to help them recognize their potential and realistically help them make changes in their life. I start where the client is but look at their family history to get an idea of their foundation. My clients often are depressed and/or anxious so I come up with a treatment plan that meets their abilities. I treat teenagers and adults, individuals, couples and families. I have a background in domestic violence and often help victims in emotional and physical abuse cases. I also help people learn anger management techniques to control their tempers.
