As a clinician, I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ communities, especially those with intersectional identities inclusive of diverse racial, ethnic, gender, and ability statuses.
The path to healing starts with a conscious choice to put yourself first, which is often a radical concept for the world and society that we live in. At Mystical Pathways, you will be taking this very step in your journey towards self-healing. I believe that the key to helping my client’s achieve a fully realized version of health is to take a holistic approach that incorporates mind, body, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing. I utilize a blend of trauma informed approaches, CBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing to help my clients uncover and achieve their wellness goals.

Hello/hola! My name is Piero and I am a bilingual couples therapist who was born in Peru, identifies as a gay man, and loves pizza. I also enjoy meeting with individuals and families, and it would be an honor to see how I can help you. I believe the most important thing in the therapeutic relationship is our connection, and that you enjoy meeting with me. You want a therapist who you look forward to seeing and who you feel comfortable and safe with, who is also willing to challenge you and help you grow. I like to be warm and friendly as well as direct and blunt, use humor when appropriate, and am comfortable talking about anything.

I believe that therapy can heal, people can change, and with a safe and supportive environment, things become possible that at one point did not feel possible. We'll work to understand your stories and patterns, explore where you'd like to feel shifts, and create a feeling of abundance of space and time for you to process. I enjoy working with young adults and adults. I have additional expertise with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.

I am a social worker at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety helping clients of all ages. I have experience helping people struggling with OCD, anxiety, and related disorders, and particularly enjoy working with neurodivergent, queer, and gender nonconforming clients. My goals are your goals. I am a firm believer that I, as your therapist, should not be someone that is telling you what kind of person you should be. I am the resource and guide on your journey to transform into the version of yourself you would most like to be. Your life is your story, and you deserve the tools to write it.

Your life is complicated, and you are doing your best to keep all the pieces organized. Some aspects of your life are out of alignment and causing distress, anxiety, and leaving you unfulfilled. Maybe some experiences have stripped away your sense of control, self-worth, and dignity. It’s hard to admit that. My clients are motivated to improve the quality of their lives. They may not know exactly how to make this happen when we begin working together, but they know they want to be healthier and happier. In addition, many of my clients identify as LGBTQ+ and prefer to work with someone that is part of the community.

I am a white, queer, abolitionist, non-binary, dyslexic, Jewish, body-liberatory therapist, and most importantly, a client.
There are a number of credentials I could share about myself and ways you might decide if I'm the right therapist for you, but honestly, between you and me, what matters is that I love this work. I use theories rooted in an anti-racist, queer liberation, harm reduction, and body-neutral framework. I feel most drawn to this work through an attachment-focused analytical frame. We have all been harmed in relationships, and I believe our healing must also exist in relationships. I know we cannot look at one's personal frame without understanding the systemic and cultural impact that intersectionality has had on one's own experience.

I am queer and have a particular interest in working with LGBTQ+ clients, including providing letters of support for clients accessing gender affirming care.
I support couples in understanding negative patterns of relating and developing more adaptive coping strategies to manage life's stressors. I do so using an eclectic approach that is carefully considered in collaboration with each client. I use the therapeutic relationship as a primary tool to help clients understand dynamics in relationships outside of therapy. I offer 75 minute weekly couples therapy.

Throughout my career I have have most consistently worked with trans/non-binary persons throughout various chapters of transition.
Note: I am only accepting full-fee pts at this time. I apologize my sliding scale is full! (04/2023). It is my belief that healing happens in relationships, and therapy is no different. We will orient our work toward what matters to you most, and through somatic tools, relationship building, and exploration of different parts of self, you can practice having choice over your patterns of being, relating, and feeling. I acknowledge the role of systems of oppression on mental health and wellness, and have particular training supporting an increased sense of safety, dignity, and belonging for those who have experienced trauma.

As a Queer-identified therapist, I especially enjoy working with other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Do you feel exhausted by life and struggle to feel at ease with yourself and your relationships? Maybe it’s nearly impossible for you to relax. Life often feels too difficult and unmanageable. You’re hit with one huge challenge after another. No matter how hard you try, it’s never good enough.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
