As an openly gay bi-cultural man, I’ve spent the better part of my adult life unlearning the harmful messages our world tells us about what is means to be different - that we’re somehow broken or unworthy. I am here to tell you they are wrong. You are fabulous, vibrant and deserving of all the gifts this world has to offer. I became a therapist to share what I’ve learned and to bring healing not just to queer folks, but to anyone who knows what it feels like to be left out. When we work together, you can expect a safe, affirming, and sometimes silly space where we collaborate to find real solutions you can implement right away.

I am a bi-racial Native with Indigenous worldviews, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and queer-affirming.
Our deepest Self is good, creative and generative; we are beautiful and resilient beings, an integration of body, mind, spirit, and ancestry. Yet sometimes life’s challenges sabotage our joy or interrupt our purpose, leaving us feeling anxious, grieved, or manifesting destructive thought and behavioral patterns. These challenges are the daily demands of navigating our chaotic world, but sometimes include other traumas such as violence, abuse, or family and inter-generational wounds.

As an trans+queer femme, I am passionate about interdependence and community psych. I believe that the societal structures inherent in our 'independence' focused U.S. culture harms all of us, creating fixed binaries and making asking for and receiving help difficult. We were never meant to do any of this alone, and resourcing folx (in a variety of ways) is at the root of all of my work. 'In the room,' I genuinely care about helping people connect to therapy work in a way that is meaningful to them, noting that this can look a little different person to person and always exists in your own cultural context.

Hello, I am an Associate MFT- Art Therapist. I am of Zapotec heritage, raised on Tataviam lands, known today as the Northeast San Fernando Valley. I understand the importance of clients knowing that their therapist is aware of the way systemic issues play a role in our mental health. I attune to issues of systemic oppression such as racism/white supremacy, colonization, capitalism, ableism, patriarchy, fatphobia, and other forms of structural violence and its related traumas. I am LGBTQ+ affirmative, anti-imperialist, and I offer holistic, non-carceral support.

Individuals and couples who identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bi, queer, trans, non-binary, poly, kink, or identify in the community in any way, find a safe space in my office to explore their personal and relational issues.
Do you struggle to open up to people, and let them in, but you WANT to? Is it easier to keep people at a distance, because the thought of potentially losing them is too painful? Together, we will explore old patterns and help you break free from them so that you can build a better relationship with yourself, and with others. With methods like EMDR and attachment theory, I can help you understand yourself better and see things in a more positive way. Let's start a journey to heal and discover yourself, so you can finally enjoy life the way you deserve.

I work from a holistic, strengths-based, somatically trained (connecting the mind body connection), sex positive, and LGBTQ+ affirmative perspective to support a sense of safety in sessions.
Now offering services for Teens, couples and individuals. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery. In our sessions we find old patterns that do not serve you and new growth that will offer new patterns to enjoy a more fulfilling life. I will use many methods with you exploring emotions, thoughts, body sensations and behavior. I work collaboratively with you to set goals and treatment that is personal to your needs and situation in a non-judgmental environment.

Whether that journey involves unwinding ordinary relationship issues, healing trauma and sexual abuse, or the frustrating challenges of being a queer person in a heteronormative world, I can help.
I work with individuals and couples to help them heal trauma, solve relationship problems, and troubleshoot challenges with sexuality. With couples I use emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to help change the patterns you are stuck in by slowing things down and learning to access needs and feelings, both in and out of the bedroom. I specialize in working with sexual disconnects, trauma, and Polyamory (AKA ENM or CNM) and helping LGBTIA+ and non-binary people resolve ordinary life issues as well as gender affirmation and coming out.

Your best therapist is a witness to your life. Your hope is that if your pain and struggle is seen by another, so will your desires, resilience, and resourcefulness. My place in your therapy is to see you, hear you, and reflect your power back to you. Sharing your journey lets me witness your transformations, big and small. I see and ask: How has systemic oppression affected you, your family, and your communities? I work with Clients anywhere on the spectrums of gender/sexuality, (non)religion, ability, and cultural & racial identity; who express body and sex positivity everywhere from asexual to kink…monogamous to poly…and beyond.

Women are often told exactly who we are supposed to be, what our bodies should like, how to behave, how to live and think. We are constantly made to feel too much and never enough. We are taught by family, culture, and society where our place is in the world. We stay silent as we are expected to offer ourselves up for exhaustion and extraction. We make sure we are not making anyone uncomfortable, not taking up too much space. We learn to shrink, hide the parts of ourselves that are “unacceptable”, and move through the world wearing a mask. But all these rules, expectations, and beliefs feel shackles. And you're ready to be free.

Is the search for a therapist or assessor that truly -gets- you more overwhelming than you could have ever imagined? You're in the right place. My clients are often on journeys to learn more about themselves, on a quest to feel better and enhance their quality of life. Nothing makes me happier than being immersed in a client's world. LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
