My practice is likely a good fit for you if: you're neurodivergent, identify as queer or trans, are exploring your sexuality or gender identity, engage in alternative relationship styles (ethical non-monogamy, polyamory), are interested in an approach to therapy that is abolition oriented and critical of systems that perpetuate harm.
Have you tried traditional talk-therapy and made progress at the beginning, only to find yourself stuck and frustrated months down the line? I offer treatments that catalyze deeper healing and growth to help my clients move forward; including EMDR, Ketamine Assisted Therapy and psychedelic integration. If you have struggled with depression, anxiety or PTSD and haven't found relief with standard treatments then my practice is for you. I offer in-person sessions in Tucson and virtual sessions throughout Arizona.

As a non-binary member of the LGBTQ community, I know the importance of having a provider who is genuine, empathic, warm, and understanding of the issues others in the community face.
I earned both my masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University - Phoenix. I completed my clinical internship at The University of Colorado Boulder's Counseling and Psychological Services Center where I created an integrated mental health and medical program for LGBTQ+ students and Trans Care Specialty Team. I have experience working with community agencies and supports addressing a wide variety of mental health issues, including mood disorders, adolescent/young adult issues, substance use, eating disorders, and Sexual/Gender Identity concerns.

I currently work with all LGBTQ+ clients in central Phoenix.
I have my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Alabama A&M University and I am EMDR trained. During my professional experience, I have had the opportunity to support clients ranging from adolescents to adults. My main focus is on the therapeutic relationship with the client. I believe creating a safe space for the client and therapist to connect cultivates trust and makes the client feel validated in their journey. As a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, I can understand the challenges that comes with navigating the process of trying to best understand yourself and explore what makes you feel the most comfortable.

Are you seeking a compassionate, experienced, and authentic psychologist to join you in your journey towards mental wellness and self-discovery? Are you looking for someone who doesn't fit the stereotypical mold of "psychologist"? Are you seeking a psychologist who is affirming and understanding of what it is like to be queer, polyamorous, kinky, neurodivergent, and/or alternative? When meeting with a new therapist, do you feel as though you spend way too much time educating them rather than on your actual concerns? Well look no further!

I love to work with adolescents and young adults who are neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, experiencing self-doubt and perfectionism and have experience with these areas myself.
Life can get messy and overwhelming, even when we think we've got our shit together! You may be coming here as a parent feeling exhausted by how to help your child, wanting to find the right therapist for your child or teen that they connect with, or searching as an adult needing a space to process all the stressors of life. I am excited to help you get started with identifying your needs and working together to come up with goals that you feel motivated to tackle.

Discovering and disclosing your identity can be anxiety provoking. I partner with folks to navigate this journey including LGBTQIA+, Transgender, Faith Transitions, and Ex Mormon communities. Perhaps you've had questions about your identity your entire life that you've kept in the back of your mind. Or maybe some article or video just sparked something for you now. Not feeling trans enough? Can't wait to transition? It can feel daunting task to contemplate coming out. It can feel even more rewarding to live in a way that feels free and happy. I can't wait to see you happy and at peace.

As a queer, person of color, I believe in creating a non-judgmental and culturally sensitive space to assist clients in creating a life that they love. Due to the pandemic, many of us have had more time for reflection than we might have had in the past. Maybe this time of reflection has caused you to question your identity, gender or sexuality. Exploring and integrating your gender or sexuality can feel overwhelming, especially in a world that can be hostile to LGBT/Queer people, but you do not have to do it alone. Seeking help takes courage. You are courageous.

Maybe you're feeling stuck in the same cycles you can't seem to break out of. Maybe you're struggling to maintain relationships that feel safe and supportive. Maybe you know that you've been impacted by the painful experiences you've had, but you don't know where to start with unpacking them. It can be scary to face your pain, and you deserve support. LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
