I have a flair for helping people achieve positive change in their lives. The journey to emotional wellness can be painful and challenging, so I make a strong effort to be encouraging and supportive throughout the process. Hurt, pain, and anger do not define who we are; rather, they open emotional pathways, signaling the need and time for change. Depression often reflects the depth of personal disruption, so when appropriate, I offer advice to validate feelings, encourage healing, and dismantle irrational thinking.
I believe depression is anger turned inward with an outward display of behaviors expressing pain felt internally. My approach is ego supportive and expressive therapy, because people seem to feel better when they feel heard and understood. Talking about “stuff” with a therapist seems to confront the inner conflict and turmoil guiding a person's life.
Although, I have twenty-five years’ experience as a psychotherapist, I believe people are in charge of their life and I am their short-term guide; together we make a team. My role is to try to lift the symptoms of depression through guided discussions that promote healthy mind-body attitudes and sure-up skills needed to live an emotionally comfortable life.
