Gay Jurgens
Marriage & Family Therapist, LCSW, BCD
As a certified Imago Relationship Therapist (founded by Harville Hendrix, authorof "Getting the Love You Want") I'm dedicated to the goal of helping couples achieve satisfying and lasting relationships. Whether your relationship is old or new, I help you as a couple learn how to communicate effectively, heal wounds and enhance your joy with each other.
I also help individuals who are depressed, anxious, lacking direction, have low self-esteem, chronic health problems, relationship problems or are grieving over a death or divorce. I help my clients find and work with their strengths, establish goals and solve problems.
I am optimistic about the possibility of growth and healing for couples and use all my years of training, as well as the experience gained from my 30 year marriage, to help me help couples. I estimate that about 90% of the couples I see achieve their goals.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I've received a great deal of post-graduate training in redecision therapy, gestalt therapy, transactional analysis, group therapy, imago therapy, cognitive/behavioral therapy. Having been actively involved in the community for years, I also use my knowledge of community resources to help clients.

Assertiveness Training
This 6-week program helps men and women who want to communicate more effectively, both professionally and personally. Based on principles of cognitive/behavioral therapy, the program includes demonstration and practice of skills such as saying "no," asking for what you want, expressing positive and negative feelings, stopping negative self-talk and maintaining self-esteem. Included in the fee is a workbook I've developed, "The Assertive Person."
