I am a fellowship trained sex therapist, studying under Dr. Eli Coleman, the nation's first endowed Chair in Sexual Health. One of the most important factors I have learned is that sexual health is very complex. However, it is important to understand that sexual concerns are best viewed within a couples framework. Addressing sexual concerns from this perspective helps to alleviate feelings of guilt & blame. This is done by working with individuals to help create an intimate team approach to therapy. My clinical interests are in male and female sexual dysfunction, compulsive sexual behavior/sex addiction, and relationship therapy.

As men, when we have a problem we deal with it on our own, often by using pornography, drinking, playing video games, or searching elsewhere for affection. We lie, we defend, we run. My story is a bit unique as to how I became a psychotherapist. I studied abroad in Costa Rica during college where I learned the Spanish language and where my love of adventure and exploration began. After moving to Los Angeles for several years, I decided to then move to New York City to pursue a career in music which is my first love. I was living in NYC and working for Sony Music on September 11, 2001 which changed my life dramatically. I decided to return to The University of Texas in Austin and obtained my Masters in Social Work in an effort to pursue a career in helping others which is my second love.

I see clients with a range of psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger, deconstructing painful religious history or background. Most of my clients are adults ranging from 20 to 80+. I am a Clinical Psychologist with advanced training in psychopharmacology or psychiatric medication management. This allows me to practice psychotherapy and also evaluate, educate and suggest medications that may be helpful in your treatment. If medication is appropriate most of my clients do not see a psychiatrist, they usually return to their family physician for their medication needs. Many take less medication over time.
