Having sexual trauma can turn your world upside down. It can be very hard to build relationships, and trusting others becomes that much harder. If there is sexual trauma as a child then the trust and innocence are lost early. If it is as an adult then the meaning and idea of what you knew trust to be are now shifted. Being in a relationship with sexual trauma history can be a rollercoaster ride filled with unknown twists and turns. I know that the needs and changes may be different for those individuals and their partners. My goal is to work together with my clients to relieve the pressure of the reprogrammed trauma brain.

I work with adults who seek healing from anxiety, depression. trauma and addiction. Of course, the reality is that I've been fortunate to be trained by Harville Hendrix, an expert in the field of couple's therapy and the founder of Imago Relationship Therapy. Imago therapy is a state-of-the-art system that gives couples of all kinds, the knowledge, and most importantly, the TOOLS to help each other give and receive the love they want. I work with couples both in my office, and in the weekend "Getting the Love You Want" workshops.

Welcome to my practice! I am a licensed psychologist with a doctorate in both clinical and developmental psychology. I work with adults, adolescents, children, couples and families. I have training in various approaches to therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and utilize those that best fit your needs. While we may look at your background to best understand your current situation, my primary focus is on improving your here and now functioning. I also coordinate care with your other providers or school personnel as needed. My clients find me to be very supportive, compassionate, and responsive to their needs.

I enjoy collaborating with clients ranging from older children (9 and up), adolescents, adults, and families, who present with a wide range of concerns such as depression, anxiety, LGBT issues, behavioral difficulties, and parent-child relationship problems.I also work with men who are at a cross-road in their lives and struggling with how to be better men, husbands, partners, and fathers.

Relationships, no matter what kind make us who we are. We can not know who we are if we don’t know of those around us. Our everyday interactions with those around us, large or small, impact us as a result. There’s nothing more rewarding than sitting with clients, hearing how small changes towards healthy relationships has improved their lives. This includes nurturing the relationship with self- an important relationship in all our lives that we often ignore.

Informed by current research on attachment and brain development,I am passionate about each person's potential for change through connection to others. Using CBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices, I work with individuals, couples, and families facing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and professional and personal transitions. Additionally, I have extensive experience with recovery from medical crisis, addiction, and trauma.

Sometimes these relationships serve us well, and sometimes they do not.I strive to help families and individuals recover from those experiences that have not gone well. My goal is to work collaboratively with each unique family or individual to achieve wholeness. With 30 plus years of experience, I am skilled in a variety of Psychotherapy modalities in addition to Family and Individual Therapy. I work with clients of all ages, ethnicity, cultures, religious backgrounds, and gender identity.

A meaningful life may involve feeling comfortable sitting alone with your thoughts, the past becoming less haunting, more effective communication in relationships, feeling productive, or something else. Human beings' brains are wired for affiliation. Healthy relationships are crucial to our physical and mental health. Neuroscience is only now able to show the positive effects of mutual, evolving social and familial connections to other people. Often, people come to therapy to find out why they feel so stressed, or unfulfilled, or why their relationships are not all they would hope for. Is there an underlying trauma? Is there a genetic component? I believe that most people have their answers, they just need safe spaces where they can explore the issues. I will help you look for solutions from within yourself.

As a clinician, I enjoy working with clients to help them live fuller, more meaningful lives. With a client-centered, strength-based approach, I tailor my interventions to each individual client. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy for the treatment of OCD and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address anxiety, trauma and PTSD.
