I am a licensed psychologist. I see both children and adults in my private practice. My work with children and adults utilizes our human ability to express ourselves through imagery in art, play, imagination, and dreams in ways that catalyzes healing and inner transformation. With children my work includes collateral sessions with their parents. With adults I also draw on my many years of spiritual practice, using such techniques as mindfulness and Yoga Nidra with my clients.
Over my 40+ years of meditation practice and recent therapy training, I have come to understand human experience as a single spectrum spanning physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions. My approach to psychotherapy is to meet my clients wherever they are along that spectrum, assisting them to deepen their exploration/insight.
My professional school has an archetypal, neo-Jungian flavor that informs my approach with clients. My internship has a special focus on sand play, play, and art therapies. I am trained in MBSR and MBCT and have studied with Richard Miller, the developer of Integrative Restoration (iRest/Yoga Nidra).

Mindfulness for Parents/Teachers

Focus: Basic mindfulness instruction as well as the application of mindfulness to the challenges of daily life, especially those encountered in parenting/teaching young children. Mindfulness is known for reducing stress, increasing clarity of mind and deepening self-understanding Mindfulness means paying attention on purpose to present-moment experiences of mind-body and the senses without judgment. Through simple practices, participants learn ways to strengthen this natural human ability as a useful tool in their lives and in their relationships with their children and/or students.

Stress Reduction: Yoga Nidra (iRest)

Yoga Nidra or Integrative Restoration (iRest): With its emphasis on working with opposites within the body and mind, Yoga Nidra is an especially effective way to approach trauma as well as other entrenched and challenging psychological patterns. It is also well designed to address stress, and stress-related psychological or medical disorders of all kinds. Working with opposites of emotions and beliefs is a special focus of Yoga Nidra, which also includes a deep spiritual dimension for those interested. This group involves eight weekly 90 minute sessions. Participants receive CDs with guided Yoga Nidra sessions for home practice between sessions.
