I am a licensed psychologist with many years of experience in cognitive behavioral therapy. I have had success using CBT for anxiety, panic, insomnia, and chronic pain. Treatment is goal oriented, skill based, and backed by research. I will teach you to replace ineffective, automatic thoughts and behaviors with more functional ones. You will learn techniques to quiet your mind. We will also explore the scientific principles of learning and behavior that will help you make long-lasting changes. By practicing these new skills, you can fight back against nagging self-doubt and ruminative thinking.
Most of my patients complete a course of treatment in three to four months. To accomplish this, I will expect you to commit to short print and video homework assignments. During the sessions, we will discuss your ongoing concerns and conflicts. We will apply the techniques and strategies customized to your particular style and issues.
I believe that our unrealistic thoughts and expectations are major contributors to our discontent. I will encourage you to be more compassionate toward yourself and to learn the limits of your control. We will augment the techniques with philosophical discussion to keep you motivated to become a more balanced version of yourself.
