I help teens and adults understand that engaging in worry, staying in bed, anger, overeating, isolating, and crying is a way to cope or protect themselves after painful, overwhelming and unexpected experiences. My therapeutic process begins in building a relationship where clients feel psychologically safe within themselves to eventually share their past an ongoing experiences with me in order that they can address the impact of their experiences and respond in a more satisfactory way to the present and future. I intentionally affirm and support clients who identify as BIPOC, AAPI, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent.
In sessions, we may explore patterns of thinking, relational history, mood, behavioral tendencies, and identity, while developing practical skills to manage or reduce distress related to anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, substance use, trauma, and other mental health concerns.
You'll benefit from my warm validation, compassionate questioning, appropriate humor, unique insights, and careful listening as we work toward understanding belief systems, emotional responses and reactions.
