I have a passion for helping people who are in need. I want to help them develop the skills necessary to do whatever it is they want to do. In my field, that's often a goal of sobriety and recovery. It's not for me to decide what is best for my clients. I try to help them determine if their current actions help or hinder their own goals in life. I offer a place where my clients can be themselves without receiving any judgement from me. I help clients in their areas of need, and in the areas in which they want help. I believe an honest, caring therapeutic relationship is important to provide the help my clients need.

I enjoy working with a variety of populations and have been a therapist since 2001. I have specialized training in EMDR, substance abuse, gambling and trauma therapies. I have also presented locally and regionally on trauma and addictions. As an adoptive parent, I also understand the unique challenges that can come with family disruptions.

I believe mental health is as important as physical health. It is my view that mental health can best be described as a spectrum - we are either in balance or out of balance. Currently the society we live in can make difficult for us to remain in balance, and we may find ourselves locked into thought or behavior patterns which prevent us from achieving the life we want. My hope for my clients is that together we can identify and eliminate the disconnect between thoughts and behaviors so they can live a life filled with meaning.

Many of us did not grow up knowing that it was important - and okay - to take care of our mental health. We heard talking about going to the doctor when you are sick, but nothing about seeking counseling - therapy - when our thoughts, feelings, or behaviors aren't well. But seeing a therapist is just as important and normal as visiting your doctor. Our minds and bodies are one, endlessly affecting one another both positively and negatively.
