Before moving to NC I had a private practice in northern CA and still maintain my license in CA and see clients remotely. Over the years I have broadened my client population to adolescents as well as adults. My specialty is anxiety but I see clients with a range of clinical issues or simply just coping with life events and transitions. At Greenwood Therapy I provide collaborative, strengths-based counseling for people dealing with depression, anxiety, and related disorders; trauma and grief; relationship problems; difficult transitions; and career questions. I work with individuals 18 years and older and with couples. My approach varies based on the client's needs, using insights from interpersonal and psychodynamic therapy, narrative and family systems therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based stress management. I have particular experience with issues facing clients in blended families and long-distance relationships; and I understand the challenges of changing direction in midlife, partly because counseling is my second career.

I am old enough to know that life does not always lend itself to simplistic answers. At various periods we all find ourselves in difficult circumstances that feel overwhelming, sometimes related to life changing tragedies like death, divorce, new medical diagnosis like cancer, job loss, or catastrophic injury. I am currently able to specialized in young men who are struggling with anxiety, anger and conduct issues. I have extensive training in working with children diagnosed with A.D.H.D. and O.D.D. (oppositional defiance disorder).
