We hold a dual license and experience in both mental health and chemical dependency.

Having years of experience as both a client and a clinician, I am very familiar with the process of change and I am well equipped to make it happen. I've helped guide people through issues of simple depression all the way to complex PTSD. I have extensive experience dealing with criminality, all forms of abuse, addiction, and most mental disorders. My blend of psychodynamic education and life experience have suited me well in this field.

I specialize in substance use and/or mental health issues with an emphasis on co-occurring disorders. Exploring life satisfaction in the 8 dimensions of wellness is one approach I use to identify potential areas for change. Tapping into intrinsic motivation is a primary focus of treatment as we work collaboratively to identify strengths and set/implement goals. Areas of specialization are: forgiveness therapy, perfectionism, creative recovery and productivity coaching.

As men, therapy is often perceived as weak, emasculating, soft, or unnecessary. We often feel pressure from family and employers that continues to mount and build over time. We notice our behaviors changing while the latent emotions, pressure, and stress begin to build. Shame, fear, and anger build and become unmanageable. Substance use or compulsive behaviors begin to surface without us recognizing it and evolve in to a inescapable cycle.

I am a licensed psychologist and licensed drug and alcohol counselor in the state of Minnesota. I was licensed as a drug and alcohol counselor for about 15 years before becoming a psychologist. I also have a graduate certificate in Play Therapy. In the therapy process I prefer to work with clients in a colloborative manner to help you identify the issue bringing you to therapy and develop skills to help you outside the therapy space to help with the issue. My aim is to help you reach your goals focusing on strengths already present in you as well as teaching new coping skills.

Julie graduated from The Adler Graduate School of Minnesota and The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Special Education Teacher, and Parent and Adult Educator. Her specialties include working with families with young children, adolescents, and adults who are struggling with daily functioning or are striving for a more balanced, holistic, and fulfilling lifestyle. Through the use of multiple approaches, including CBT, solution-focused, humanistic, Adlerian, nutrition, and fitness counseling, she facilitates relational living within a systems approach.

I am only offering Televideo counseling. It is very effective. I have over 30 years in the human service field. I have worked extensively with individuals, couples, families and groups. My specialities are PTSD, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, OCD, co-dependency, domestic violence, children's behavioral problems, chemical abuse and dependency. My clients tell me that my direct style of interacting has been very helpful for them. I have a true belief that we all have the ability to get better and solve our issues, but we don't always know it and need assistance to find our own healing.
