Welcome to my practice. I have been in practice since 2007 and have been featured on ABC, NBC, and KCAL as an expert psychologist. I work primarily with men who have hit “rock bottom” and would like help getting up. These men are often in crisis when we first meet. The issues I address are typically related to unhealthy sexual behaviors, infidelity, financial recklessness, gambling, drugs/alcohol, dishonesty/lying, and relational conflicts. My therapy approach is a combination of psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, and the 12-Step recovery model. I also share insight from my own painful but redemptive recovery journey.

My ideal client is motivated to engage in the change process and is willing to follow suggestions and direction that will result in real second order change that is truly life changing. I am uniquely qualified in treating various addictions including alcohol and drug abuse, sex addictions and compulsive behaviors, problem gambling and the many underlying issues involved. I am very effective in getting to and helping my clients resolve the root causes of their addictions. I am very effective in helping clients resolve addiction related issues including self-esteem, codependency, anxiety, anger and trauma using CBT, EMDR and FSAP.

My name is Lavina Ellison. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. 138663. I typically work with clients dealing with Relationship issues, grief, behavior issues, depression, trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I tend to thrive with clients dealing with depression, trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I offer a non-judgmental space to aid in my clients feeling like they can be themselves and keep it real in session. I work with children and teens struggling with problems around school, mood and behavior while providing developmental guidance and effective parenting skills for parents. I work extensively with adults struggling with relationship and mood problems. Through providing a safe and relaxed environment, I guide them through a process of self-examination of their own patterns of thoughts, feelings, and relationship styles that kept them from getting what they want.

Providing clinical counseling for over 25 years, I've assisted survivors with all forms of trauma, anxiety and stress disorders. My practice has included working with military members and families as well as providing counseling to many Spanish speaking Latino populations . My specialties range from employee assistance for work related stress, issues of addiction to all substances including gambling and also working with the trauma of immigration. I can also provide evaluations for immigration hearings.
