My approach is client-centered and rooted in the belief that the client knows themselves best; this approach is based on Adlerian teachings and the idea of holism. I look at all aspects of them as a person and not just the presenting problem. I like to help clients gain the skills to navigate through their struggles. While I understand the purpose and need for goals, I am more of a solution-based clinician. I believe in fostering the client’s strength to achieve what they want out of therapy. I try to accomplish all of this through a sense of humor, directness, and a dash of approachability.
I am interested in working with individuals over the age of 16, the LGBTQIA+ community, the Native American population. and the military. I have experience with addiction counseling and would be willing to see that population in a mental health setting. I want to get training in somatic brain spotting and play therapy.
I am an avid movie and TV watcher and have a large physical media collection. I like to go to the movies when I get the chance and spend most nights decompressing after dinner, watching shows. I also crochet in my spare time and like to make crocheted blankets. I enjoy spending time with my family, made up of my kids, 2 grandsons, and one dog.
