About
I work with children and adolescents, providing services for neuropsychological evaluations for neurodevelopmental disorders (i.e., ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, such as dyslexia) and psychotherapy for trauma, depression, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, and more. I utilize Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to inform a highly individualized and integrated approach tailored to each child's needs that teaches healthy coping skills (i.e., effective communication skills, relaxation techniques) to replace unhealthy coping skills (i.e., shutting down, screaming) helping them feel in control over their behaviors and feelings.
Pediatric neuropsychological assessments are helpful in understanding emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and/or academic difficulties and can help in identifying specific treatment recommendations. Psychotherapy for mood-related disorders often focuses on identifying, challenging, and changing negative thought patterns that have become ingrained.
With medical treatment, the best outcome is when an illness is cured. The goal of therapy is not to "cure" or "fix" your child. Mental health or other psychological distresses are not diseases. Therapy is a guiding tool to help your child cope with the difficulties they are experiencing. It won’t fix them because they were never broken.
