You are more than what you’ve been through, and therapy can be a space where your story begins to feel empowering instead of heavy. You may not know exactly what’s wrong, only that something feels off. Maybe you feel stuck, disconnected, easily overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or like you’re just trying to get through each day. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “I should be fine, but I’m not,” you are not alone and you do not have to navigate that experience by yourself.

For the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people as they navigate some of life’s hardest, messiest, and most transformational moments. At my core, I’m a warm, caring, and deeply invested counselor who believes that real change happens when you feel both supported and challenged in just the right balance. My style is a blend of compassion and straightforward honesty—I’m known to be blunt when it’s needed, silly or sarcastic when it helps lighten the emotional load, and solution-focused when you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and do the work. I take my role seriously, but I don’t take myself too seriously.

In 2005, I participated in "intensive" DBT trainings and have been to workshops conducted by the creator of DBT, Marsha Linehan.
The most important thing I offer each of my clients is HOPE. I believe change is constant and things can get better each day. I strive to teach my clients how to cope during stressful times and be more mindful of the positive things in their lives. I believe in a person's ability to change and can offer skills to help with this process. I have more than 10 years experience working with adults, teens, and families. I also offer group counseling for those who would benefit from meeting other people with similar struggles.

Are you an exhausted caregiver struggling with burnout, anxiety, or emotional overload? You’re the dependable one—the parent, partner, adult child, or professional who keeps everything running. You anticipate needs, manage crises, and make sure everyone else is okay. But inside, you may feel chronically overwhelmed, emotionally drained, irritable, or disconnected. Caregiver burnout is real—and it often hides behind high-functioning anxiety and perfectionism.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
