Jamie hopes the counseling
relationship
will provide purposeful tools and attainable goals for personal and relational growth.
Sometimes in life, we all need to take time for self-care and have someone in our corner to walk with us through life's challenging moments. Jamie understands the importance of asking for help, whether it be mental, physical, emotional, social, and/or spiritual in nature, and the vulnerabilities that come with asking for help. She will listen to those God brings into her life and offer compassion, empathy, care, and encouragement to turn challenges into victories.

The first question that a therapist usually asks is "What brings you in today?" This question in itself can be a point of tension. Maybe you don't know where to start, what to say, or what exactly brought you in today. I get it! I think when a person comes to someone else for guidance, that in itself is a very courageous act. Working with clients, I hope to help them better understand what their
relationship
to the problem is and how we can look at it from a more compassionate, flexible, and accurate vantage point. Co-collaborating with a client in an effort to encourage them to seek answers is one of my main roles as a helper.

Three of my passions in counseling are journeying alongside men as they pursue healing, restoration, and freedom from sexual addiction and codependency; helping engaged and married
couples
to deepen intimacy, cultivate joy, and navigate conflict; and to come alongside all people who desire internal healing from trauma, abuse, anxiety, and shame.
I believe that even though we are often hurt through relationships, we can also receive healing through relationships. I desire for people to experience the healing power of being vulnerable and real with God and one another (to know and be known). I seek to make my counseling room a safe and inviting place for clients to be able to work towards healing or to acquire the growth they desire in all areas of their life: mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual.

Allow me to join you in finding the answer to life's roadblocks by getting to know yourself, your
spouse
, and/or your children.
Have you ever felt as if you failed your child as a parent? Does your child no longer have that same bubbly smile and personality? You see the pain and emptiness in your child's eyes, and you just want to help them heal emotionally. Your child's behaviors often disrupt family events or the classroom. Often times, you wonder where is their joy? Why are they so angry? Do you feel like you have exhausted your options? Are your goals to restore calm in your home?

I do not offer judgement, simply a space for thoughtful exploration and implementation of new, sometimes difficult changes. Client needs vary from anxiety, depression,
relationship
stress, school or work issues, addictions, and sexual discovery. I offer flexible scheduling and am a distance credentialed, meaning we can conduct therapy through the use of technology.

Empathizing with your concerns, we will build a trusting
relationship
to develop and achieve your goals.
You wake up with your daily “to do list” flooding your mind. Your days are spent caring for everyone else or trying to keep up with your responsibilities. There is no time for yourself. Feeling burnt out, you are no longer content with the life you once held as your dream. Every day feels draining and mundane. Anxiety overwhelms you as you keep up with life's demands. You wonder if there is a way to find joy in the things you once loved. You push through each day not feeling well, unfocused, and irritable; all the while wanting to feel fulfilled in the life you are creating.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
