My specializations are in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma , relational problems, struggles with personal identity, and physical symptoms related to psychological distress.
It is my belief that therapy is a place where anyone can work towards a greater understanding of themselves and the patterns that might contribute to their difficulties. I practice attentive listening with the goal of fostering self-awareness, personal growth, and alleviation from emotional pain. I operate from a psychodynamic perspective when working with adults and teens, meaning that we will work towards a deeper understanding of unconscious conflicts, and examine how past experiences and relationships may be affecting how you operate in the present.

I approach complex trauma and anxiety with a relational mindset and use a mix of talk therapy, EMDR, and yoga counseling (depending on your preferences).
I help highly intelligent over-achievers trade anxiety for confidence without feeling like a failure. My clients struggle like you do. Despite being smart, successful, and funnier than a viral meme, life is hard. When they first come in, they feel trapped by their image. They like being thought of as organized and successful, but inside they feel a total fake. When they stop to think about it, they realize they don't even feel like themselves anymore... it's like they've morphed into what other people expect them to be. Their greatest fear is people seeing the real person behind their mask and rejecting them.

It's hard enough being a teen or young adult, but when you add in anxiety, depression, or trauma , it can feel impossible.
I help nerdy cool awkward teens and young adults navigate through a world that doesn't seem to fit. My clients struggle like you do. Despite being smart, funny, and knowing the ins and outs of their favorite games, life is hard. When they first come in, they tell me that they don't need therapy. They explain that other people don't get them, blame them, and expect them to be something they're not. They can't figure out where life went from sometimes fun/sometimes boring to unmanageable and overwhelming. They talk about their family not caring and not really having friends. They struggle to communicate with pretty much everyone.

Dealing with feelings of anxiety, depression, hopelessness, PTSD , and/or the general difficulties of life can be hard. With that being said, I want to commend you for seeking out help to overcome these struggles. A person’s awareness and acceptance of their emotional complexities can be the difference between living a high quality of life, with no restrictions, and one that is filled with pain, loss and destructive cycles. The good thing is, all that is needed to foster recovery is honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness. These three qualities are the keys to the kingdom, if you will, regarding therapy.

I bring a trauma -informed perspective with advanced understanding of how events and feelings are connected to our body, brain, and the world around us.
I am excited to connect with people who find themselves ready for a change, but perhaps unsure of how to make that happen for themselves. I enjoy helping people explore all parts of their life to help make sense of present situations and to make a plan for a healthier future. This can look like discussing nutrition, exercise, emotional intelligence, past relationships and family dynamics, as well as a myriad of other topics. I prioritize a holistic approach for not only my clients, but for my own life as well and have personally experienced healthy change from this perspective.

I specialize in counseling clients with eating disorders, substance use disorders, and trauma .
Life experiences can sometimes leave us feeling as though we are presented with something too challenging or difficult to face. We can feel lost, overwhelmed, and unsure. So we can turn to coping mechanisms that might help us in the moment but aren't realistic long-term. Everyone needs help from time to time. I believe in empowering my clients to gain the tools and self-awareness they need in order to achieve more peace and serenity in their lives.

I work with clients who lack a sense of calm and hope. We can label it as anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, OCD, PTSD , or many other things, but for the person or family that is struggling, it’s the day-to-day overwhelm that matters. This is a parent full of self doubt. This is a child who has outbursts or is easily overwhelmed. This is a teenager who shuts down when looking at homework. This is a professional who sits in their car dreading going into the office.

In your lifetime, you may have had some experiences that negatively impacted your mental health and well-being. Many of these experiences may have derived from adversities and even trauma in your childhood or adulthood; causing you to struggle in some areas of your life. It may seem that you are “stuck” in time psychologically or emotionally and, find it hard to have healthy relationships with others. If this is you, you are not alone; neither are you "flawed”. Your natural survival mechanisms helped you along the way. Therapy is tool that can help you get "unstuck" and heal through awareness, acceptance, alliance, and action.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
