I have worked and served in different communities around Georgia in the past 12 years. I am not a laid back clinician and I am active. I interact and pick on my clients a lot. I will confront you! My method of counseling is experiential and is client focused. I don't give advice but if I feel anything about your life, I will tell you for sure. I don't hide myself behind my psychotherapy methods. I see young children for play therapy, couples, and adults and teens with various issues. I am a clinical supervisor and provide group supervision for freshly graduates on Thursdays at 12:30 pm.

By creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment, I strive to help individuals explore the connection between their trauma and substance use, develop healthier coping strategies, and achieve sustainable recovery.
My ideal client is an adolescent or adult struggling with trauma or addiction, often facing co-occurring mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD. They need a safe, supportive environment that acknowledges the impact of their trauma and empowers them to develop healthier coping strategies. Their goals include achieving sobriety, building emotional regulation skills, and improving self-awareness. They seek healing to regain control over their lives, establish meaningful relationships, and create a sense of stability and well-being.

My therapy style is relaxed and collaborative, with a high value placed on humor and hope. I work with ages 12+ on issues like depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, infertility, perfectionism, and grief. We will work together to identify your goals, your strengths, and your values and use these to help guide the therapeutic process. As a Christian counselor, I feel that bringing spirituality into the counseling room is one of the best ways to grow hope, and I enjoy weaving your spiritual beliefs into our sessions when it is helpful.

Therapeutic fit is typically the most important factor for therapy success. So instead of going for any hooks or marketing gimmicks, I’ll describe myself and my style. I’m from Georgia, been in recovery for 10 years, an avid reader and sports watcher, a new dad, and have an awesome dog (see my website for proof). I’m not presumptuous that I know what’s best for anyone. I will be both kind but also straightforward; honesty in a kind way is more important than approval. I love using metaphors, media references, and humor in sessions. I strive to be flexible while also remaining authentic, empathetic, and solution-focused.

We'll uncover the deeper reasons behind your substance use, reduce shame & build healthier coping strategies, helping you feel more grounded & connected to yourself.
Something brought you here, and it probably isn’t the first time you’ve felt this way. Maybe you keep hitting the same walls in your relationships, reaching for something to take the edge off, or waking up wondering why things feel so hard. You might be navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, addiction, or all of these things at once, and not quite sure who you are on the other side of it. What most people I work with have in common is a desire to understand themselves better and break the patterns keeping them stuck. We take the time to look at what’s been shaping your experience and start finding a way through it together.

Life is short. If your life doesn't look the way you want, NOW is the time to change. For almost two decades, I have helped clients bring their lives into line with their goals. Being a therapist isn't just about giving a listening ear. It's knowing what to listen for and what to do with that information. It's understanding how the mind, body and soul work together and how we get stuck at certain points. Therapy is focusing that knowledge to create change. Change is a skill and therapy is the place you learn it.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
